Why Birds?    I was reading in Luke 12:6-7; 24…”Are not five sparrows sold for two cents?  And yet not one of them is forgotten before God….you are of more value than many sparrows.”  “Consider the ravens, for they neither sow or reap….and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!”

In a trip to India, you will encounter animals while walking around.  Cows in your way, goats and other animals running loose, Monkeys all over with no boundaries…and all exist alongside mankind.  I went through a very narrow street, and cows were blocking the way, but you just push the cow to one side and slip past it.

Many animals are restricted by weather conditions (Polar Bears, Penguins), by habitat (Whales, Fish), or locations conducive to their lifestyles (certain Snakes, Bears, Coyotes).   We have zoos that house Pandas, Elephants, Giraffes, and other animals which are not native to this place.

Birds are free to roam high and wide and go wherever they want.  Butterflies and other air creatures also.   Luke points out the bird:  Sparrows and Ravens.

Think of the value of Sparrows in terms of Dollars and cents.  Not one of them is “forgotten before God.”

YOU ARE OF MORE VALUE THAN MANY SPARROWS!  God does not forget about you!  How awesome is that, in a society where even our parents and friends “forget” about us.  Happy Belated Birthday!   Why?  I forgot!

God knows how many “hairs on your head.”   Why would He care about that.   I lost several hairs this morning in the shower….Do you think God goes back and corrects His record.  God cares about you so much, He is aware of everything about you.    Have you ever experienced someone caring that much about you.

Several weeks ago, I met a man, and we shook hands and I begin to talk to him.  He turned around to talk with someone else, whom he knew very well and pass some material between them.   I found myself talking to the wall in front of me.   Have you ever been in a situation like that.  They really don’t care about you.

God cares about you!

The birds don’t sow, or plant what they need to eat, and they don’t reap, or harvest what they need to eat.  They have nothing stored up.   They just look and there is food out there someplace for them.   Robins come to my yard because I have a large supply of worms in my yard.   I plant flowers that are favorable to Bees, Butterflies, and Hummingbirds.

God feeds them….the birds!  How much more valuable you are (to God) than birds!

God will not leave you….He will not forsake you….He will not forget you….and He will not let you go without.

Being a “free-spirited” person, this is the greatest news to me in my Journey of Life.   I have someone who cares for me “better than a brother” and who understands what I need, when I need it.  I am not alone on my Journey for I have a mentor God who walks and talks with me, even when I cannot do something for myself.

On My Father’s Business,

There is a dough, that you take a small piece of it, and set aside, and when you come to make bread next week, you put that little piece that you saved, into the new batch and it causes the leaven, to permeate the whole batch. Then you take and set aside some piece of the new batch for next time.

“To permeate with an altering or transforming influence.” “To produce change or modify (someone)*” (*I added someone.)  Look up the word Leaven….and see what other definitions your source gives to you. Then apply it to Luke 12:1-12.

This is important for parents because, you are spending an awesome amount of time with children…..and I believe….”Train up a child in the way ****he/she****should go….Even when he/she is old he/she will not depart from it (the way they should go).” Proverbs 22:6

I trained my children up in the way I wanted them to go. So are they any better than I was?  Are you training your children up in the way you and your spouse want them to go or in the way they should go.  Do you understand why your children may be in conflict….their way….versus your way?  Can you believe God enough….to let go of your children, and “Train them up in the way they should go”?

This can be very scary for parents.   I am not suggesting you just “let your children do what they want to do,” but rather that the parent(s) understand, what is the best route for the child to go in order to give him/her the best chance to become what God wants for them.  Think of the POTENTIAL!

The Great News right now….Luke 12:11-12….”The Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” We have the comfort of knowing that, we can let go of our children, as long as we depend upon the Holy Spirit to control us in what we do and say. Then….and only then, will we be able to “train up our children in the way they should go.”

It is not the one who will destroy you/your body, physically….but beware and shun the evil one who will destroy your children Spiritually…and for these special Children, that is a tough call.

God cares very deeply for sparrows, how much more does He care for you, and for your children.  Abraham was satisfied with life.  Are you satisfied with your “parenting” of life….as adequate according to the Word of God?  Start today, right now, and make changes that will be “Spirit-led” and according to The Word of God.  If you have ears to hear, and eyes to read….understand and go do it!    Then (your name) will be Satisfied with Life!  Be the “Bread of Life” for your children.

On My Father’s Business,

I went to church one Sunday morning, and then I intended to go to the Fair Grounds three hours later for an event.  I had put my favorite cologne on, and off to church I went.   At this outdoor event, standing around several other people, a woman tapped me on the shoulder, and asked me what my cologne was?   I told her and her response was, “Oh, I just love how you smell.”   Ha, catch me early in the morning, and let’s see if you have the same response.

Let me contrast that with another statement.  I was going in for a medical procedure last week, and in the instructions I read this statement:  “Please do not wear fragrant perfumes or lotions today.”   I am almost sure they also meant colognes…no one will say to me, “I just love your cologne…!”

Do you attract other people to yourself?   Paul speaks of being a “sweet fragrance” in our lives; of being a “savory aroma” to those around us.   I have come into contact with many who claim to be “Christians” or “Christ-Followers” but it is not a sweet fragrance or aroma that I smell.   It can be rather “offensive” at times.  Am I like that….?

To be an “attractive” personality doesn’t mean that we have to say anything.  People will be “drawn” to us by our demeanor….our pleasant outlook to life, and maybe in all that, they will see “Christ is us….the hope of Glory!”   For, “It is no longer I who lives, but Christ in me!”   “Don’t put a bushel basket over your light, Let your light so shine before men.”

(Check out “Stumbling About”)

I plant a lot of plants in my yard to attract butterflies, bees, and even hummingbirds. I hope to attract them to come into my yard.  That is what I want to do as a “Christ-follower.”   I want others to see my life, and value something they see in my life which will help them in their Journey.  Doesn’t it feel good when someone says to you, “I want to be just like you.”
