Why Birds? I was reading in Luke 12:6-7; 24…”Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? And yet not one of them is forgotten before God….you are of more value than many sparrows.” “Consider the ravens, for they neither sow or reap….and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!”
In a trip to India, you will encounter animals while walking around. Cows in your way, goats and other animals running loose, Monkeys all over with no boundaries…and all exist alongside mankind. I went through a very narrow street, and cows were blocking the way, but you just push the cow to one side and slip past it.
Many animals are restricted by weather conditions (Polar Bears, Penguins), by habitat (Whales, Fish), or locations conducive to their lifestyles (certain Snakes, Bears, Coyotes). We have zoos that house Pandas, Elephants, Giraffes, and other animals which are not native to this place.
Birds are free to roam high and wide and go wherever they want. Butterflies and other air creatures also. Luke points out the bird: Sparrows and Ravens.
Think of the value of Sparrows in terms of Dollars and cents. Not one of them is “forgotten before God.”
YOU ARE OF MORE VALUE THAN MANY SPARROWS! God does not forget about you! How awesome is that, in a society where even our parents and friends “forget” about us. Happy Belated Birthday! Why? I forgot!
God knows how many “hairs on your head.” Why would He care about that. I lost several hairs this morning in the shower….Do you think God goes back and corrects His record. God cares about you so much, He is aware of everything about you. Have you ever experienced someone caring that much about you.
Several weeks ago, I met a man, and we shook hands and I begin to talk to him. He turned around to talk with someone else, whom he knew very well and pass some material between them. I found myself talking to the wall in front of me. Have you ever been in a situation like that. They really don’t care about you.
God cares about you!
The birds don’t sow, or plant what they need to eat, and they don’t reap, or harvest what they need to eat. They have nothing stored up. They just look and there is food out there someplace for them. Robins come to my yard because I have a large supply of worms in my yard. I plant flowers that are favorable to Bees, Butterflies, and Hummingbirds.
God feeds them….the birds! How much more valuable you are (to God) than birds!
God will not leave you….He will not forsake you….He will not forget you….and He will not let you go without.
Being a “free-spirited” person, this is the greatest news to me in my Journey of Life. I have someone who cares for me “better than a brother” and who understands what I need, when I need it. I am not alone on my Journey for I have a mentor God who walks and talks with me, even when I cannot do something for myself.
